Christmas Dinner day
It was Christmas dinner day at The Orchard Day Centre this week! Everyone attending helped prepare and cook a beautiful meal and desert.
We also enjoyed Christmas bingo, quiz and even karaoke afterwards!

Corbridge Christmas Tree Festival
We decorated and set up a tree at the Corbridge Christmas tree festival. It was amazing to see all the local business represented in such a festive way.

Long Service Awards
In November we celebrated the staff long service awards.
14 staff members received awards for
5 and 10 years service some members of staff received both.
In total our long standing members of staff equate to 113 years service.

We have been working with the North East Ambulance Service in their consultation in improving services for minority groups.

Open Day for parents and Carers
It might be a bit early in the school year to start thinking about what comes next but it's always good to be prepared and have something lined up for when school ends.
Moving on into the adult world doesn't need to be scary we have all the facilities to make it a smooth transition.

We are having an open day for Parents, Carers and individuals to come and have a look around our facilities and chat to our Day Services Manager and Supported Living Manager about moving on from school and what that might look like.

New sensory Library Launch

Here at West Orchard House we are very excited to launch our latest community resource.
​
We hope the sensory equipment library will offer families and individuals the opportunity to "try before you buy" as we recognise items can be expensive to buy outright especially if you don't know if it is something your son/daughter/individual will enjoy.
​
​How does it work? ​
You sign up via the website, agree to our terms and conditions and for just £10 per year you get to borrow a new sensory item for a full month before swapping it for a new item.
How amazing is that!

What's Cooking?
LAUNCH OF THE HAWTHORN ROOM KITCHEN
This week, we proudly ticked another task off our list with the launch of The Orchard day service kitchen. The Hawthorn Room has been transformed into a fully-equipped learning kitchen, and our attendees were eager to put it to the test.
Coincidentally, it was also World Hot Cross Bun Day, making it the perfect opportunity to try our first recipe.
The verdict? Absolutely delicious! Now, our participants are excitedly planning new recipes and menus to explore in The Orchard’s kitchen.

Our annual day trip top beamish
This week, we had a fantastic time on our annual outing to Beamish Open Air Museum.
Those we support through our ISL service, Day Farming service, and The Orchard spent a memorable day alongside our dedicated support staff and Head Office team.
The weather was on our side, and we indulged in some classic treats – fish and chips and sugared mice, a big hit with everyone!
It was a day full of fun and exploration, and we’re already looking forward to planning next year’s adventure!
